One-Day Option:
For those seeking an exhilarating challenge, embark on an early morning journey. We depart Huaraz around 2-3 am for a 4-hour drive, reaching an altitude of 4100 meters. From there, a 3-hour trek brings us to the stunning Laguna Parón campsite at 4000 meters above sea level. The panoramic views from this point are simply awe-inspiring.
Two-Day Option (Recommended):
To fully immerse yourself in the beauty of this region, we recommend our two-day, one-night option. Day one follows the same early morning start, allowing for a more relaxed pace and better acclimatization. After setting up camp at Laguna Parón, you can enjoy the serene surroundings and prepare for day two.
Day Two:
On this adventurous day, we ascend towards the frozen lake or base camp of Artesonraju, famously known as “Paramount Picture Mountain.” The trek involves approximately 900 meters of elevation gain over a 3-hour hike to Artesoncocha Lake and onward to the frozen lake. The return journey takes approximately 2 hours.
After gathering our equipment, we return to the Parón Lake entrance, where transportation awaits to bring us back to Huaraz. We typically arrive between 6-7 pm, ensuring a full day of exploration and unforgettable memories.
