Alpamayo & Quitaraju 9-Day Climbing Expedition

Join us for a challenging 9-day expedition to Alpamayo (5,947 m) and Quitaraju (6,040 m), two of the most iconic peaks in the Peruvian Andes. With a mix of trekking, technical climbing, and high-altitude ascents, this program is designed for experienced climbers looking to push their limits.
Throughout the expedition, you will trek through beautiful valleys, camp under the stars, and ascend some of the most technical routes in the Cordillera Blanca. Our journey begins in Huaraz, where we’ll gather and prepare for the climbs ahead. The trip combines demanding ascents with crucial acclimatization and rest periods to ensure your safety and success.

Trip Details

DAY 01: Huaraz – Llamacorral (3,760 m)

Depart from Huaraz to Cashapampa, where we will meet our team and prepare our gear.

Begin the trek along the Santa Cruz River Valley, reaching Llamacorral for our first camp.

Overnight: Llamacorral Camp.

Continue trekking to the Alpamayo viewpoint. After taking in the spectacular views, we’ll reach the Alpamayo Base Camp for an overnight stay.

Overnight: Base Camp Alpamayo.

Ascend to Moraine Camp, located at 4,900 meters, where we’ll spend the night to acclimatize.

Overnight: Moraine Camp.

Ascend to High Camp I, at 5,200 meters, with the help of porters.

This will be a challenging day as we climb icy terrain, utilizing ice axes and crampons.

Overnight: High Camp I.

Early start for the technical ascent of Alpamayo, known for its stunning beauty and steep ice walls.

Once we reach the summit, we’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Cordillera Blanca before descending back to High Camp I.

Overnight: High Camp I.

A full rest day to recover after the challenging summit climb.

Optional light activities and acclimatization.

Another early start for the summit of Quitaraju via the technical North Face.

After reaching the summit, we’ll descend back to High Camp I and then continue down to Base Camp Alpamayo.

Enjoy a celebratory dinner at Base Camp.

Overnight: Base Camp Alpamayo.

Descend from Base Camp Alpamayo to Llamacorral.

Overnight: Llamacorral.

Final trek back to Cashapampa and transfer to Huaraz.

Departure from Huaraz or onward journey.

Experience Required: This is an advanced expedition designed for experienced climbers with previous high-altitude and technical ice climbing experience.
